Rotary This Week – October 11, 2007 – At the Lodge

Bill Kaufmann is the Rotary Host for Pat Bell, Executive Director of Williamsburg Hotel Motel Association.  Pat will discuss the local Hospitality Industry, including the latest trends, upcoming changes and the impact of Jamestown 400.

Breaking News (in case you missed the last meeting….or two)

 Club News

  • We have two new members – Peter Mellette, who has recently moved his law practice to from Richmond to Williamsburg (and is husband of Rotarian Kerry Mellette), and Sibilla Dengs, owner of Art Café 26 in NewTown.  If you have not already done so, please welcome them both to the club.
  • Salvation Army Bell Ringing Schedule – Frank Ferrante is helping Frank Force with the schedule.  Knowing that we are creatures of habit, Frank has “unofficially” placed our names in the same slots we had last year.  But check the website for instructions  http://www.williamsburgrotary.org/  and, yes, there will be a slot for you, even if you did not sign up last year.
 District News
  • The District 7600 Annual Conference will be held this Friday , Saturday and Sunday at the Hampton Marina Hotel.  Most of us remember it as the Radisson, next to the Virginia Air and Space Center.  Please let me know if you would like to attend – or if you would like to play in the golf tournament on Thursday.  http://www.rotary7600.org/Conference.cfm
  • There is a District Rotary Leadership training session in Richmond on Saturday November 10.  This session is a great way for newer (or older) members to increase their Rotary knowledge and to meet fellow Rotarians from around the district.   http://www.rotary7600.org/RotaryLdrshpInstit.cfm

Rotary Next Week – October 18, 2007 – Charter Night – At the Lodge

October 18 is our Charter Night Celebration.  We begin celebrating in the lounge at 5:30.  The club will furnish beer and wine, but the regular bar service will be available for cocktails.
